Privacy Risk Assessments – Giving Charities Trust a helping hand

Charities Trust is a £50million a year charity which helps to raise money for other charities through structured fundraising schemes, such as Payroll giving and fundraising appeals.

Charities Trust wanted to update its staff training in the area of data protection, and also to review the Service Level Agreements with all of its suppliers to ensure a consistent approach to privacy and data protection across the organisation. Absolute Data was briefed to complete a full review of the charity’s data processing, identifying any risks to privacy.

How did Absolute Data help?

Our Senior Consultant, Jason Ellis, spent 10 days on site with Charities Trust reviewing their data processing activities. A comprehensive report was compiled and presented which picked up on a number of potential risks to privacy and data. An action plan was drawn as a result, and project managedby Jason to reduce or eliminate the risks identified. A regular programme of data protection / privacy reviews was implemented.

A 1-day staff training programme and training materials was developed and delivered to Charities Trust, and Jason worked alongside legal firm Eversheds to advise on Service Level Agreements, to manage Charities Trust’s suppliers.
